I just ordered my new Magnum D2 15" from www.stereointegrity.com and built the box. I've got 4.3cu.ft w/ 2 4" ports tuned to 30hz. anyway, I went to put the box in the trunk, and found that at 17" tall, there was literally no clearance between the box and the magnets of the x9s. Anyone else have this problem? I want to keep my rear fill, but if I do, I'll probably have to keep the stock JBL speakers b/c I dont think I can find any aftermarkets w/ that shallow of a mounthing depth. Anyone have any insight?

take out the spare and make a box that goes into it. Bam! Now you have plenty of clearance

wow i didnt know the d2 comes in a 15" now

if you really really really have to have rearfill you could invert the 6x9's. you would probably have to modify the grille though.

The box I had with my brahma measured out to be, 24"Wide, 17" Tall, and 23" Deep, I got it in by removing my trunk carpet and taking out the spare then dipping the box into the wheel well and lifting it back up while a friend put the carpeting back in, only prob is I didnt have a spare tire. I figured this is about the biggest size box you can fit in the trunk of a solara without doing mods to the back seat which I now have done. but if you keep it at 17" tall, you will be fine because it leaves about an 1/8th of an inch between the 6x9's and the box.

Thats exatly how I had to get my sub in. Unfortunately, the 17" tall theory doesn't work. My box is 30"wide 20" deep and 17" tall, BEFORE CARPETING... Then you add carpet and you have a very tight fit. SI just came out w/ their 15, I had to pre-order it before it was even made, now they're still in the testing phase so I'm still waiting for it. I might just try inverting aftermarket x9's althought that would kill just about all the tweets.
