Has anyone considered having a multi-channel amp installed to boost the performance of the stock speakers. I was looking at some nice JBL multi-channel amps today and wondering what kind of impact they would have on our stock JBL system. If anyone out there is a sound junkie and knows what they're talking about, could you please help me out. Also, my tires just came in today, the Yokohama AVS ES100 in 225/45ZR18 91W. I'm getting them mounted and balanced this weekend hopefully. I'll post pics as soon as they're ready.

im sure ur car stock has an amplifier.. but as far as running another its probably not recommeded since they probably can't hold that much power... in hooking up the second amp, u would have to disconnect the stock amp, and probably hook up a new head unit

When you use aftermarket amp, you most likely want to have an amp that has higher RMS output, and the stock speakers can't hold that.

If you got the JBL speakers, that's the peak of their power. Toyota put in a 200 watt (peak) amp for them. Upgrading the headunit may make the quality slightly better, but I'm sure it'll be hard for you since the damn thing is integrated into the dash... it looks nice but it's a pain to get an aftermarket HU. The 03+ Accord people have the same problem. Someone made a 'pocket' for it... I think it costs $150 =x

Along the same note...has anyone replaced their speakers yet? I am not too impressed with what comes stock (I have the JBL 6 disc) and would like some more "gutsy" speakers...am also considering a sub. Any good recommendations? What size are our speakers?

I am pretty sure the backs are 6x9. The set in the door who knows.

I am confused anyways..I knew we have 6 speakers..

I thought it was 2 in the back, 2 tweeters in the door and 2 in the dash.

After listening to my car I realize there are two 5 1/4 or 6 1/2's in the door.

So now I am assuming there are components in the door....maybe 4x6's in the dash and 6x9's in the back ???

Can anyone confirm this?

I am considering building a small computer for the dash and buying one of those touch screen LCD's. Does anyone know of a good supplier for TouchScreen LCDs?

if you run a new head unit, you have to bypass the factory amp because it will fry cause of the new power coming from the head unit... can't use the factory amp once u get a new heat unit

I was thinking of keeping the current headunit and running the computer through an FM modulator.

I might replace some of the speakers...but if I do that I might as well get a new head unit w/ power.... too bad i'd lose my steering wheel controls.
