Has anyone installed this adapter in their 2004?

If so:

Was it easy to install?
Does it work well?

I'd much rather hook my iPod and satellite radio directly up to the factory unit rather than going via an FM modulator.

Thanks for the heads up nkx1!

The print said it's NOT compatible with the factory Navigation system, which if I remembered correctly, you have it with your Gen2 Solara.

Luc,

I've got the 6-cd changer. Do you think the adapter will work for me? I wish I would have gotten the navigation. Next car, maybe.

Have you installed one of these adapters? Is it easy or hard? How much of the dash needs to be disassembled?

Thanks!

Oh...for some reason, I thought you had the Navigation system. I've installed a similar adapter, but from the same company, in a late 90s Civic without any problems. Get a 3-meter 2-channel RCA for extension and an adapter from RCA (phono) jacks to 1/8" mini-jack from Radio Shack, so you can plug in your iPod. After all is done, you would just simply hit the CD button and it will find the adapter.

I've yet to see a Gen2 Solara coming in for a radio install, so I don't know in particular how to take the panels out. You will need to take the entire radio out for sure to plug the adapter in the back. It looks similar to how a Gen5 Camry would have its radio taken out: pry out & unclip the climate control and radio panels and remove 4 10mm bolts.

Luc,

Thanks for the info. Anytime I "pry" I end up breaking. I wish you lived about three hours farther north! I'm going to let someone else experiment with their car before I give it a try. The FM modulator is working okay for now. Cars certainly have changed since I did my own installations. Back in the day it was so easy in most cases to take a car stereo out of a car without even removing one piece of the dash. Now days it seems even the tires have to be taken off the car before you can get at the radio!

If you end up installing something in an 04 please let me know how it goes. Thanks!
