Does your touch screen work w/ DVDs?

I saw one guy's and it worked... then my friend bought that unit and when he installed it, the touch screen didn't work w/ the DVD anymore (same DVD)... do you have to program it to work with the specific DVDs or something? I've scoured the manuals and can't find anything relating to using the touch screen as a navigational touch screen... just a touch screen to make adjustments to the unit...

sorry i can't help on that question but i'm bout to buy the same head unit (actually i think the 835 - the one minus the dvd player) and i have a question - do you (or ur friend who has it) use an outside equalizer for ur system? i was told the clarion's don't have more than a bass and treble setting and i'm wondering if that's gonna be enough to provide a clear sound. i was looking at the alpine's minus the monitors but i'm bout to get a good deal on the clarion so i might do it if the sounds right. thanks for the reply - this is the deciding factor in buying it or not - thanks again
