All correct and in my opinion, the best thing I've done for performance on my car yet! It's no secret that the best way to get power out of our platform is with forced induction. Unfortunately, TRD only took the solution part of the way, probably to keep costs down. I heard the early superchargers didn't have the same limitations as the newer ones like I have (maybe that's why they had more knock sensor problems) but it just doesn't even sound right.
You buy a supercharger to increase the airflow and if you have an automatic, this is what you get: Boost is cut between shifts and below ~3600 RPMs and the output was limited to 4psi. Tell ANYBODY that is serious about performance and they will ROTFL! Like many others here, my first thought was to use a smaller pulley and simply increase the boost. Fortunately, Thanks to this and other wonderful web forums, I was able to hear of other very smart guys experiences, mine was the same. I took it up to 6psi with an Apexi S-AFC-II to ballance the fuel but could not get it adjusted enough.
The correct way is to provide more fuel capacity and use timing correction. Gadget at Underdog Racing Development
http://www.urdusa.com has figured this out on the supercharged 3.4L 4-Runner and really perfected it. Unfortunately, there is no fuel pump that will simply replace our stock pump due to size. The Kenne Bell Boost-A-Pump
http://www.kennebell.net/accessories/boostapump/boostapump.htm is able to boost the stock fuel pumps capcity up to 50%. Mine is delivering sufficient capacity adjusted up 30% right now. Another great site to read about the theorey is
http://www.modularfords.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7819. Of course simply increasing the capacity of the fuel pump without upgrading the injectors would be fruitless, Gadget provides 3188cc Bosch injectors as part of the kit at a VERY affordable price. The last significant piece is the Split Second Fuel Timing Calibrator. Those guys really did it right with a lot of functionality packed into 1 little programmable box. I have disconnected the output of my Apexi S-AFC-II and simply use it as a monitoring device now. You won't find all of these parts for less (trust me I tried

). Gadget sells them as a kit on his web site.
Now as soon as I step on the gas, I boost. The car really feels like it is supercharged rather than only when the RPMs are over ~3600. Gadget said the kits are selling, I keep hoping that someone else here does it so they can confirm my experience. So far, I feel like I'm a salesman or something. I just want everyone else to enjoy it as I have. I really felt like I had hit a wall with the performance before. For more information read this post:
