I Get Flashed the Brights A Lot.

I Get Flashed the Brights A Lot.

Postby fotodad » Sun Dec 21, 2003 12:47 am

I've noticed on-coming traffic often flashes me the brights. I have factory low-beams in my 04 SLE. I have NOT tampered with how they are aimed. Only the brights have Silverstars. Since I drive on rather busy roads, I seldom use my high beams, but it seems if 20 cars go past me, one or two will flash their brights at me. I used to think it was because I had the fog lights turned on, so I turned them off. It made absolutely no difference. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I've never had this problem so far, have you ever put your car on a flat surface with your lights on against a building or a garage door to see how thier aimed? You gotta remember these cars were made in Kentucky, your car could have been at the portion of the assembly line where they aim the lights during a shift change.

I've had that problem with several new cars I've bought. I think car manufacturers purposefully aim them high. I usually aim them down a little myself. I don't think it is a big difference. I bet if you checked them, they would be just a little above the limit. -JoeB

THe projectors make the silverstarts more concentrated so it's almost like a HID beam shining at them =P I get the high beams a lot because I have HIDs in the halogen reflector housing hahaha

Future plans:

People often flash me too. I have done nothing to the headlights so it is a factory setting that people apparently think is too bright (high).

I have noticed the high beam flash occasionally. If you notice the light ahead of you from this car, there is a very distinct line that the lights cut out at the top of the view so I don't think the lights are mis-aligned. I believe these are high intensity and gives a brighter light which throws people off.

Happens all the time to me too. I just flash em back to educate them. The regular beams definitely are very intense. An 04 Solara drove at me for the first time the other night and they are super bright. I think mostly it's becuase the beam is so focused unlike traditional headlamps.

It looks nice =D How high are the beams pointed when you are stopped behind another car? The 1.5s are aimed to be at trunk level and lower (gen 4 camry trunk) and if you're lowered... lol near the bumper =x

x,

This seems like a good way to check the beam height. I'll check it out and get back to ya.

Yes, during nights where I have guest in the car they always ask "are your highbeams on?". I think I've got 1 or 2 flashes so far, but the beam is indeed higher than most cars I've driven.

Seems to happen more when the fog lights are on or there are passengers in the car. Had several people flash me tonight.

Hmmm, I drive with the fog lights on all the time and have never had the brights flashed to me yet.
