Thanks for suggestions. I think I'm just going to put it all together, and if I feel I need a capacitor/new battery later, I'll install them later. I do have a headunit with sub outputs, so I dont need to tap to my speakers.
kubi, i like the analogy - From what I understand, the capacitor "stores" energy so when the subs demand more for a hard hit, it has the extra power to give it, instead of straining the rest of the electrical system that controls the headlights and such. While its not hittin, the alternator puts out a little more power to restore the energy level of the capacitor, so its good for the next hit.
If you constantly exceed the limits of your alternator, or have too many hard hits for the alternator to keep up with, no number of capacitors will help. Theyll make it last a little longer, but eventually your headlights will start dimming again. Its just a buffer.
I'm tellin' ya guys, I'm learning alot here.
With 600w of subs, I may dim with a full on hit, but I think my electrical probably can give out about 300-400w extra as it is, so I may not need one. Its just a rough estimate, so I guess the best way to tell is to actually experiment and install the system in and see if the extra capacitance is needed.
I think its about time to start hunting down that BP600.1...
