Hey jeff i know that yours is a single din... where is it mounted.. on the top part or the bottom part of the din??? cuz i tried to fit my old headunit in the top din and its very tight...

im using the bottom din at the moment for my indash tv and i dont have any fitment problems... you have more space on the lower din...

From my audio shop, they said you're supposed to mount Toyotas in the top din because it's tighters... dunno how true it is though...

If your face is motorized, sometimes it don't mount all the way in so the face won't open into a piece of the car... if you saw my headunit, you'd notice it sticks out like an inch or so

I had no problem in the top DIN, the head unit fit fine, but once I put on the face plate, it would stick out about 3/4". I was going to make some new holes in the brackets and play around with some >>I'm a douche<< to flush mount it, but I noticed tha thte corners of my faceplate are rounded and that the edges of the faceplate are a little shorter than the actual brain assembly. If I flush mounted it, I would have a little gap all the way aroung and it would look stupid.

yea my headunit is mounted in the top din. and its been driving me nuts cuz it sticks out....seems dumb to me to have it sticking out cuz the headunit is designed to fold up and hide the face. when it sitcks out it's obvious that it's there...i think im gonhna try and move it to the bottom din. which might work better i was gonna make a switch panel to mount into one of the dins anyways.

Jeff, if you're looking for a switch panel, I saw one from www.PlanetPerformance.com I don't know much about the site, but they advertise a single din style switch panel with 3 toggle switches and a push-start ignition button (could be cool) or 4 toggle switches. Prices aren't bad...

Thanks for that link! My old roommate was going to fabricate me something to put under the ash tray for switches, but that panel would work perfectly!

You CAN flush mount an aftermarket radio so that the faceplate will be somewhat even with the dash bezel. There is plenty of room in the cavity to recess the radio. All you have to do is drill new holes on the brackets so that the mounting holes will line up. Then, grind the trim ring out on all edges such that the dash bezel can fit over it. Get a Toyota pocket to use as a guide to see how far to recess the radio to drill new holes.

This is an Alpine flush mounted in my friend's Gen4.5.

My pioneer fits fine on the top din. Didn't have to do any modifications just slid it right in.

Like Luc said, it's not that difficult to back load a little bit to get a better look. All I do is a line up the brackets with the old radio (gives me a good idea where I need to bolt the bracket to), then I drill a few holes in the stock brackets and off I go. Same thing with Nissans (when you want to use the trim ring to make it look a little better).
