Wiring, Fuse Holder

Wiring, Fuse Holder

Postby jondailey » Sun Nov 30, 2003 5:00 am

Hi, I have been reading these forums for a couple of months. Some stuff I agree with, others I don't. But some people on here seem pretty knowledgable about some stuff.

I did a search and read some of the stuff posted about what I am asking about, but since most of the posts are pretty old most of the links/pics no longer worked. I emailed a few people and got no responses.

So...
Where did all of you all run your power wire? Did you find a workable grommet or did you drill? If you drilled, where at? I am running 1/0awg.
Also, where did you all mount your fuse holder, circuit breaker? I have an ANL fuse holder.

Thanks.
Thanks-

I ran through that rubber thing on the driver’s side of the firewall that the OE wires are run through. There are a big bundle of them, so it's hard to miss. I just cut out an enough that I could ram my 4ga. though and that was that. I have an inline fuse holder and it's zip tied to the base of my battery retainer. Not very showy, but not being able to see it is better than seeing one flopping around under the hood untethered :). A snap-in grommet came with my kit.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

Ill look to see if I can run 1/0 through there then as well. As for the fuse holder, zip tieing it won't be good enough to compete with so Ill have to find a better suited place than that. But thanks for the input.

I have a circuit breaker mounted right next to the battery screwed to the frame. It's a pain because I have to take it off to replace the driver's side headlight... but don't have to do that often so it's really not a big deal.
Please stop humping my car, owner privilege!

Thanks for the replies guys. Any pics you all have will help.

HKS...for competition your fuse holder must be mounted no further than 18inches from the battery. This is also for safety sake.

Peter what did u do with the factory Positive Wire from the car? Did you just cut the end off and connect it to the battery terminal.. I have a dual terminal Red Top the damn terminals are reversed from factor so the factory Pos wire is kind of stretched to make the reach..

Extend your factory wire with 4 guage or bigger, just get a solid connecter. :D

mine was short too, so i got a new 4 gauge and ran it all the way back to the source. dont splice, its better to run it all the way through w/ a longer 4 gague.
