Postby KenoshaSolara » Fri Jun 24, 2011 8:40 pm

hey everyone,
lately ive been getting really into cars and i want to start putting some performance parts into mine. i have a 1st gen solara v6 3.0L. Im think i want to put some better headers and a good exhaust on it and probably an intake but im not really sure where to start. Im not the biggest gearhead so i only know a few things but my cousin is and he is willing to help me. if anyone could give me some tips on what or where i could find some good starter things to work on i would really appreciate it.

In terms of intakes CP-e is the best one. However, I dont think you can buy those ones new so you have to try and find a used one. Look in the for sale section here there are some that pop up. If not the next best one is Injen I blieve. Thats the one I have and I really like it. it cost me 100 dollars used. Good luck modding!
2001 SE V6

Injen intake w/ extension - Renova Grill - custom catback exhaust - 2 12" Kenwood subs - Tein s tech - neons - 8000k headlights - 3000k fogs

If you want more power, you can buy a TRD Supercharger for an instant increase of 70HP on stock boost and no other mods. Change the pulley, upgrade your fuel system along with your intake/exhaust and you could be looking at a 300whp Solara like some guys have done already.

I will definitely look at the injen. Thanks man. On the supercharger note I can't find anything it's all for Toyota trucks. I've seen on YouTube a supercharged solara. I feel like they use a supercharger from a different car and I have no idea how to do that lol.

I'm just looking for performance parts for more hp. I don't really have a budget because I will be buying parts one at a time. I left out that my car is automatic and i don't know how much parts you can get for one or if it's even worth modding. Do the superchargers work on automatic cars? Lol if that's a dumb question then you know my level of working on cars lol. Thanks to everyone for the help so far. I will be saving my pennies!

read. learn. it'd be a slap in the face to anyone trying to help you if you hadn't done any research yourself...which sounds like you havent made any attempt to do. there is an extensive aftermarket forum, read it. if you're not willing to scan old posts and teach yourself something, well then the helpless can't be helped. do some reading and when you find a part that interests you, then ask specific questions.
