Wheel spacers on stock rims and tires?

Wheel spacers on stock rims and tires?

Postby SteveSolara » Tue Jun 14, 2011 12:22 am

Hey guys, this might be a stupid question, but i think this will work.

I was in autozone earlier and saw some wheel spacers, and i wonder if i can use them on my solara with stock rims and tires?
I was going for a more flush look i guess, but just wondering if it works.

Will this work? and if it does what size spacers will i be able to use?

I have a 99 toyota solara SE V6

wheels & Tire size:
P205/60R16

Thanks for the help i really apreciate it :D

it would work you just cant use regular spacers due to our stock studs being too short and in order to put spacers you would need a big a$$ spacer to make the wheels flush, you would actually need adapters, adapters allow you to bolt up the spacer to the stock studs and the adapters come with studs already so those are the ones you will be using to mount the wheel on.

dont really remember whats the offset on the stock wheels but im pretty sure its over +45 so in order to make that flush you would need to bring it into the +20's range and thats a big adapter, adapters are expensive they can go for about 100 ea. If thats the case i would say save up some money and get some nice "cheap" wheels, with good offsets and your set.

When I had my stock 16" SLE wheels I had 25mm H&R Spacer in the rear that had the wheel studs, You may need rolled fenders but it will work. It make the rear not Super flush, but did look better then the sunken battle ships the OEM offset give the wheel. I wish I still had my spacers still so I can throw them on my solara right now with the OEM wheels.

Stock wheels are +45 and with 25mm spacer i was at +20, but since the wheels is only 6.5" wide, its not that bad. Just make sure you get a good quality spacer like H&R or Ichiba (which I sell) or Project kits. I've use all 3 brand spacers and they are equally as good but one set being more expensive then other due to branding. Spacer are a good alternative when you want to stick to OEM wheels, But if you are trying to achieve a better look I would do what Fergay said and look for some new wheels with good offset. But looking good sometimes doesn't always come cheap. lolz
