can someone give me a layout of the cylinder numbers for a V6. I have a misfire in #6, but I am not sure which one that is.

Thank goodness it's one of the easier ones to get to! Good luck problem solving. Do you have a code to go with it?

yeah, you ain't kidding about being one of the easier ones.. I was really hoping that it was one of those.

I have two codes -

P0300
and
P0306

I know one is the misfire on #6 and the other, I think, is a random misfire. I think one gives a cylinder # and other doesn't, but I think they are related. I am leaning towards the coil because as the car warms up the problem seems to lessen of not go away entirely. When I did the timing belt, the plugs/wires were changed.. even tho that was a little while ago.

It's been a long time since I've done my spark plugs (50k), but doesn't 1 ignition coil fire 2 spark plugs? If that's the case, there should be another code for another cylinder? Or do you think the p0300 is it?

Anyways, I'm going with Spark Plug. When was the last time that was changed? Keep us updated!

Move the coil to another cyl, reset the ecu and see if it comes back on the other cyl.

one of the codes was 'random misfire', and the other was 'misfire on #6'. It was definitely a random misfire - as it really only happens when it is cold out - which is why I am leaning towards the coil. I will swap the coil to another cylinder and get the ECU reset and see what happens - good idea.

thanks
