Eibach Lowering Springs...?

Eibach Lowering Springs...?

Postby Jabraltar » Mon Mar 21, 2011 7:54 pm

Hey guys, so I found a set of 4 Eibach lowering springs designed for 1999-2003 Solara's for $150.00 basicly brand new. Just wondering if this is a good deal or not and if anybody on here has them installed, or has any feedback on them? I figured it was a pretty good deal but you guys know a lot more than me! Thanks for the help.

It's a good deal. You'll need to find some struts though. I might be selling my almost brand new suspension set-up soon (Tein springs + KYB struts) you might be interested also:P

I've used them in other applications, They're my go-to springs for majority of enthusiasts. If you get something firmer, people complain about ride quality. If you go lower, people complain of scraping. It's an excellent all-around-spring. And at $150, that's pretty good.

Have you given thoughts to what struts you'll pair them with?

I've called Eibach a few times asking what struts they suggest. Their answer is always the same: The springs were developed and paired with stock.

Haven't put much thought into it yet I'm just entertaining the idea lol and does that mean that I should just pair them with the stocks because that's their recommendation?

Or stock equivalent. I've pressed them by asking if they think stocks can withstand the additional strain, they said any strut would need to bear the strain. So I implied that upgraded struts were necessary, they said if it makes me feel better. I asked if it would alter driving dynamics, they said of course it would. So after 10 minute conversation, I gather that new oem struts are best. However, they're ok with slightly upgraded struts like KYB GR-2, Tokico Blues, Gabriels, Monroes, TRD. In fact, that's what I would suggest also.

Don't forget to get strut mounts especially for the fronts. The rears too if you wanna get it done right, but they don't wear as much as the fronts.

eibachs will give you an even drop all around. tein s-tech will give you more drop in the front than the rear (which is needed on the solara's since the rears already ride fairly low - especially if you have any load in the trunk - system, gear, etc). Tein s-tech are the better spring for a balanced stance, do a search on here and you will agree. the price difference is minimal.

and if you put any lowering springs on stock struts, you're setting yourself up for a blown strut asap or a crappy ride. the "experts" are the people actually driving the cars with these setups, NOT the so-called eibach pros that dont know or care to know squat about our solaras. read any threads in the past 5 years, there's a reason we always upgrade over OEM struts with lowering springs (user feedback). take the rears out some time and you'll appreciate why you should do it right the first time. also, new strut mounts all around are a given as well as a new alignment.

read the posts from real drivers. tell me that eibach's self promoting tour was unbiased and from solara/camry drivers with hands on experience. doubt it, i'll trust the solara drivers. other platforms, i wont claim bias either way...but our platform, I'll trust the users (experienced users that have had the different setups).

Eibach's will NOT give you an even drop...the rear will be lower than the front. I used them for a few years before upgrading to coilovers.

Good point! That was before I knew about TRD's relationship. Will follow up with the word and report back. Been a while since I've spoken with Greg, will be good to talk to him again. Kinda excited to see where this goes.
