Various code errors

Various code errors

Postby Black_rainbow2003 » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:53 am

I have a # of different code errors on my 99 Solara. Here is some background information. The vehicle was always hard to start when really cold, she would sputter and be really cranky until warmed up but no code errors would show up. Last week it was really cold and she would not go. I put a bottle of anifreeze in the tank and after sitting overnight she went the next day. Then the check engine light came on, scanned it and got a P0171 error but the car still worked fine. Today there is major loss or power and idling problems, scanned again and got P300, P301 and P304 errors but no P0171 error.

Could this all be related to EGR Valve? Would a faulty or dirty MAS sensor cause this? Bad plug wires?

Any advice on what to do or check?

Thanks

You've had this problem for 3 years and haven't figured it out yet?

The hesitation problem was only present in cold weather and wasn't really an issue when warmed up. It's also a second vehicle so it was mostly used in the summer and worked great with no issues for the last few yrs.

Thanks

BTW, they replaced a coil on cylinder # 4 and this solved the problem.

Thanks for the help.

I have the same issue - it only happens when it is cold out, but once it warms up all is good. My check engine light finally came on yesterday, but then while driving around for lunch today it went off. Does the code get stored? I was planning on getting a reading after work.

thanks
