TRD Lip Kit Painting Question

Postby Bluesolaradude11 » Thu Jan 13, 2011 10:47 pm

Hey guys, alright trying to plan the mod list for this season, and i'm hoping to get alot done! I'm thinking about piecing the TRD side skirts, rear lips, and i'm gunna do Cl lip in the front slowly. I know i need to get the kit painted itself but my question is do I have to respray the car as well? It's a 1999 Twilight Blue Pearl waxed n buffed reguarly n paint still looks decant after 11yrs. Any advice would be helpful!

Thanks Guys

Nah, there is no reason that you would have to repaint the whole car just to put the kit on. You should be good just painting the kit. Good luck with your project.

You can just get by with painting the kit, but if you've got the coin, get the car professionally detailed as well.

although I don't have a lip kit, I would assume that you would just need to only repaint the lip kit as closely to the car's color as possible.
And since you wax and buff regularly the quality in gloss between your original paint and lip should be minimal.

The only reason I would repaint the car would be if I would change the whole body kit since it's such a drastic change and people can see a difference between your original paint the the body kit's new paint job. Or if your original paint has deteriorated due to neglection.

Other than that just repaint the lip kit and enjoy ;]
and don't forget to post up some pics!
