I have been pondering an searching for the entire day, and I cant seem to find how to take of the automatic shift knob on the V6 SLE

Anyone want to help :)

Pop the cover for the shift lock override, press the button while simultaneously shifting into L (make sure the car is off and that the e-brake is locked). There should be 2 Phillips head bolts in the backside of the knob. Undo those, and carefully slide up the knob, being careful to hold onto the shifter button, which will spring out & off eventually if you don't secure it. There you go.

That's just it though. There isn't any screws. The damn thing is complete leather and I cant find where I would get it off. Would I have to cut the leather first :/

its wrapped in leather. this is considered good.

I dont like the look of it :/, it makes me feel like i am 80, hahaha

I guess it also has to do with the fact it was my moms car :/

I don't see why it wouldn't fit. However, you'd have to fabricate some auxilary button/switch for you to operate/disable the overdrive.
