Just bought a 1999 Gen1 Solara

Postby wwjd1955 » Fri Nov 05, 2010 8:55 am

Hi there! I am the new owner (as of 11/04/2010) of an experienced 1999 Solara SLE V6 automatic. The car is pearl white with a bottom band of gray, and has a dark gray leather interior. It has the sport package, so is fully optioned. It has 158K miles on the car, but has the engine from a 2000 model. The engine has about 70K on it.

Of course I am brand new with the car, but so far I love it! Peppy, responsive, tight, etc. The old "for sale" message was still on the rear window yesterday, and I had three people ask me how much I wanted for the car before I could get the signage removed. That made me feel great!

Looking forward to learning much more about the Solaras, especially Gen1 cars. Mine was in a front end collision, but all repairs seem to have been done well. The dash has also been replaced, and I think they jambed up some cup holders just below the climate controls, so I'll work on that.

Anywho, just wanted to say HELLO. I am a 55 year old car guy, who cut my teeth on the old muscle cars of the 60's (owned a 66 Dodge Charge and a 68 Chevy Camaro). Now I have 4 kids, 3 in college and a junior in high school, so own a "fleet" of vehicles (02 Honda Van, 00 Honda Accord, 99 Ford, 96 Corolla, 87 Chevy S10 and now the 99 Solara).
