Just picked up a Solara!

Just picked up a Solara!

Postby sp3cialed » Fri Sep 24, 2010 3:19 pm

Hey Guys, just picked up a solara. It's a 2000 SE V6 5speed. I probably paid too much for it, but i NEEDED to have a manual. I love the car so far. Brought it to my local dealership (friends dad is service manager). Needs new Power steeering pump and high pressure hose. Other than that, it's golden. What are some basic tune ups i should do besides oil change, plugs, coolant flush and what not? This forum has been very helpful so far. I can't wait to start the mods. I had a 05 Scion tC with I/H/E, and I just sold my 99 Mustang Cobra for the solara for economical purposes, so I'm pretty familiar with basic mods. My only question was, is there a master-list of what is compatible with the gen1 solaras? Can I pull ANY engine part out of a camry or es300? Suspension wise it's the same as 97-01 camry? Seems like aftermarket parts are scarce for solara but all of your cars look awesome and has more stuff on it than i can find! Seems like an awesome forum here, thanks for the help.

As we say in Hawaii "E Komo Mai" (Welcome) to Solaraguy.
Notice the rear fenders are rolled. All you have to do is fix that hood on the passenger side. Does anyone know if the previous owner was an SG?

haha, yeah it's lowered on tokikos, and no it does not have a blower on it =( But I DID not know the fenders were rolled. The front of the hood looks bad, actually spreads to the fender a bit too. Gonna try to just get it straightened as much as possible and throw a half bra on it. thanks for the welcomes!

Welcome! very clean solara! NOOOO please no bra, unless you get bad winters then its ok. Ya get that hood and fender fixed and headlight on passenger looks more faded then drivers side. But minor mods are lowering, RSB, intake (CP-e, injen) supercharger is a must!!! lol there are a few for sale, and yes there is a master list, i just looked at it yesterday but cant find it right now to give you the link (didnt look very hard) it was made by midias just do a search and all your questions should be answered!!

thanks for the reply. well igot a quote on the paint and to blend from a good shop for just the hood and fender would be around 1g. I only paid 4g for the car so that doesn't make sense. I figure the bra would be a quick fix and maybe a classy look. Just the hood half bra though, not the bumper too. I actually got a deal for 2 new headlights for $89 on ebay. Seller mislisted it and said pair instead of passenger and i called him and forced him to honor it =) he agreed. I've heard of a friends, friends, friend that ran a blox racing velocity stack with blox racing air filter with custom piping on his 1mz and he said it was the best mod he ever did. anybody familiar with this? RSB, intake and short shifter is next! Might have to wait on that blower... haha

nice man! and 1G sounds about right! for hood and fender that sounds like a good deal actually, for me my moms car hood would cost 700$! and ive never heard of that setup, but if a rsb comes up you better snag it fast cause they seem to go fast! short shifters are nice and intake is a good one. and ya sc are expensive! JPP or OBX headers, or megan racing, obx, or greddy evo 2 racing cat back
