The only thing that got rid of my P0401

I just wanted to let people having the same P0401 problem that I fixed it with Sea Foam. I can't believe all along after I replaced every part of my egr system the thing that fixed it was a 1/3 of a can of Sea Foam in the brake booster line. I don't want to do a commercial for them but I wanted to let anyone else that was having the problem know so hopefully they don't waste a ton of money and time like I did.

Where exactly did you put the seafoam? I have a P0402 code, and I'd be willing to give it a shot to maybe fix that. I just cleaned my EGR yesterday with MAF cleaner, but the code is still popping up.

It can also go in the gas tank

First I reset the code. Then I put it in the brake booster line. It will suck it in, you have to pour it really slow or the car will stall. Turn the car off and let it sit for 10 minutes so the carbon will break up, then I idled it for a few minutes, it'll smoke pretty bad. I drove for about 10 minutes until it stopped smoking. Finally the annoying light is gone.

P.S. I put it in the gas tank first and it didn't do anything for the check engine light.

Didn't do it for me. I think I might just have to replace the egr valve.

Try unplugging it, then plug it back in or taking it off and cleaning it. You could have carbon built it up and it might be stuck closed. I took mine apart ( it was REALLY clean) turns out, some how it got stuck open. Much cheaper than replacing it

Do you mean unplugging the position sensor?

I tried seafoam but it didn't fix the code. The next cheapest option was to replace the egr valve which fixed the code. Nice, quick and easy for $45.
