EGR Position Sensor

EGR Position Sensor

Postby dc3886 » Wed Jun 09, 2010 4:16 am

I need a new egr position sensor for my 2000 Solara and every website I go to lists V6 under the part even after I select 4 cyl. My question is, is the sensor the same for V6 and 4cyl? My local Toyota Dealership has not been helpful so an answer will be greatly appreciated.

I just checked rockauto.com, there's no sensor listed for the 4cyl, but there is one listed for the 1mz

did you get the p0401,p402 code? Make sure all your vacuum lines to the egr are clean and not blocked up. You can also clean the egr if needed. Look in the tutorials.

Check http://camrystuff.com/index.php?page=Gen4_Manuals and look at the manual for your engine. ITs a Camry manual but most of the internal engine stuff is the same. EGR is under emissions
Good luck.

I have been getting the P0401 code. First I took my egr off and cleaned it myself and replaced the gaskets and after that just to make sure I brought the car to a mechanic to clean my lines and check my whole egr system. Everything is working fine. My car is running great. I keep getting the P0401 so I can't pass inspection until I get the check engine light off so I figure the egr position sensor has to be the problem.

for a quick inspection i would remove the bulb for the check engine light.
then you have time to find the problem and get it resolved.

also just get a part # from the dealership for your cars egr position sensor, then see if the v6 has the same part #. then you will KNOW its the same part.

I can't take the bulb out, the state checks or at least according to my inspection sheet, it says they do. I called the Toyota dealership and a very rude man told me he can't find a part number for my 4 cyl. so I should just bring it to them. I'm not going to take my car to them until I've tried everything. Any ideas?
