Tail lights out

Tail lights out

Postby vman5911 » Sat May 22, 2010 11:08 am

Hey guys,
So some guy told me my tail lights were out yesterday. Brake lights good. Turn signals good. Hazards good. Checked the fuse. It was blown. Put a new 10a in there and it blew again. Any ideas what could be going on?

My dashboard dimmer also seems to be constantly on, which seemed odd, if that gives anymore clues.

Thanks.

Oh, so they both went out at the same time but not the brake lights?

Sounds like a ground problem.
PM Gabe (TRD4life)
He had the same problem a month or so ago, and I cant remember how he fixed it.

....but Im pretty sure it was a ground problem.

Good Luck

check for a short. Maybe water corroded a wire? or a pinched rust spot that got yanked finally.

I also noticed that the headlight dimmer turns itself on when my car is in drive, but turns off when my car is in neutral, if that provides any other clues.

either get an exorcist or follow the wires....lol That sounds weird. Something going on around the shift cables? Relay?

I'm thinking it could possibly be the relay too...what would be the symptoms? And does anyone have a simple diagram of where the relay would be?
