car shakes when brakes applied hard...?

hey, i have a 2000 sle. when i put my brakes on somewhat hard, (usually on highway) my car/steering wheel shutter a good chunk.

is this normal? anything i can do to fix it?

Brakes seem to be ok...no noise coming from them, so pads should be ok.

thanks in advance

brake pads may be fine but your rotors are warped.
replace or resurface the rotors and put new pads on.

im not entirely sure but i have non ABS gen 3 & before i replaced em they were SUPER warped & occasionally would suprise lock a lil bit if not careful... but chances are yours arent as warped & you likely have ABS..... either way it would be high on my priority list bcuz its not comfortable to drive knowin something is wrong w/ your brakes & i suppose that fear can cause its own problems

ya it is a safety problem just think about it if you need to make an emergency stop at high speeds your rotors being warped my cause less pad contact and even turn abs on. i would get them replaced as soon as possible

Yup, to go along with what others have said, if you are getting really bad vibrations from your warped rotors, it won't be long until other parts of your suspension start to fail.
