Anyone run a muffler delete (no muffler)?

As the title states, has anyone removed their stock muffler and kept all the other components (Stock cat and resonator)?

I know there may be a loss in torque due to lack of back pressure but are there any other drawbacks?

I know Mole might have done it on his old solara, so if he or any other members with experience with this could chime in, I'd appreciate it.

I have Mole's old set up. I didn't notice any loss in torque....just more noise :D

Ran a "muffler spacer."

Just get a real exhaust.

im running a 2nd resonator as a muffler, idle sounds good, 2500rpm is defining, no noticeable loss in TQ or HP

stock header, custom Y pipe, hi-flow cat, 2.5'' into a 3'' pipe .

no back pressure. (no clue if it took performance for the muff delete)

the Y is the bottleneck.

loud times...

I did this back about two years ago, and again this past week.
I don't think it's that loud, but you may disagree. At 2000 rpm
there is major resonance and the exhaust is at it's loudest.
No noticeable difference in power. Right now I have a JIC midpipe
and just the resonator it comes with, no muffler. I'm actually a
little disappointed at how quiet it all is. I do have CA emissions
spec. $chit though. So the three cats quiet everything down.
Trust me, I'm a technician.

^^^ 3 cats? wow lol thankfully in BC, Canada there is currently no air care or emmisions standard and i dont have to be tested or etc. But im running stock headers, oem y pipe (replaced it like 4 months ago due to leak, 2.75 exhaust to 1 resonator and then 2.75 to 2nd resonator thats my "muffler" its a honda resonator i got off a friend and fabed up a tip, ill get a pic up for tomorrow, maybe even a vid. but idk i find 2500rpm is when its the loudest, maybe because im not completely stock? its pretty loud though, interior noise is noticeable with windows up, but sounds good none the less, i think it may have helped actually performance wise, not 100% sure though.

^Yeah, I don't have to meet any emissions here either.
For some reason the idiot that bought my car originally (not me)
decided to pay the extra for CARB certified crap. There
are two small warm-up cats, just off the headers and then the
main cat after the merge on the Y pipe.

I'm not completely stock either, I have an Injen on there.
And the 3 cats makes a big difference. There is a definite
resonance form 1900 to 2100 rpm and at 2500 it's comparatively silent.
Trust me, I'm a technician.

Judging from all the replies, all I'm gonna get is noise at idle and low rpms. Is the idle a plesant sound or an annyoing one?

Just don't wanna take it off to find a ricey, generic fart can noise.

hmm... couldn't you take it off, and if you don't like the sound, put it back on...?
i changed out mine and it was only two bolts and two hangers.
