Spark Plugs/gapping for 5S-FE

Postby AnglerfisH » Thu Apr 22, 2010 8:19 pm

I searched the forums and really couldn't find a definate answer. I know that the stock plugs are Denso. Would an NGK twin tip platinum plug work fine? On the cam cover it specifically states "Use platinum spark plugs with a twin ground electrode", so I'm not sure if it would be wise to run a single tip plug in the car. Also, what is the stock gapping, and I've never gapped twin tip plugs before. Do they need to be gapped or are they pre-gapped? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, I figured after reading your response and looking at some online stores that they were pre-gapped. Got them changed today with new Denso plugs, had to go buy a U-joint for my socket extension to get underneath the strut tower brace, but that was the only problem I ran into.
