New Tires

Postby krenshaw » Fri Apr 16, 2010 12:41 pm

I just put new Yokohamas, on my car they feel great,
They are 225, 45R, 17's, for my 2004 SLE, its' quite a difference from the Goodyears I had on there, much quieter, feels like a smoother ride.

What kind of Yokohamas did you put on there?

The New Yokohamas are the YK530's only rated at I believe H
The Goodyears were only sold at at Wal-Marts, which I found out later Goodyear makes tire lines only for Wal-Marts, they were American Eagle H2's 215 50R, 17, originals were those Bridgestone 215 55R 17's really didn't like those too much at all.

Which led me to Discount Tire, because Walmart is really inconsistent with service, I had one tire I couldnt balance, someone else said they just kept adding weights to balance it, they wouldn't strip off the old weights, they just said we can balance the tire, weird. Plus it takes forever for them to do anything, they get you in, and then work on 10 projects at once, and when you start loitering around the automotive to pick up the car, that's when they start woriing on your car.

Took me about 5 times to figure out the program. Sorry about the rant on Wal Mart, they probably have better garage procedures on the West Coast.

CONGRATULATION on your new tires. Nothing like them.
I bought new tires last month, and they make the car ride like
new. I got Michelin Primacy MXV4 215/55-17 to replace the
Kumho Estas of the same size. The Michelin's are a lot
quieter and I am very pleased with them.

Yea, I misstyped, they are the 520's, I've only got 200 or so miles on mine, are yours wearing good? They got like 50 or 60k warranty on them, they must be good tires

ASYMETRICAL DESIGN

Postby krenshaw » Tue Apr 27, 2010 3:07 am

These YK 520's they told me were asymetrical when they installed the tires at Discount Tire, what does that mean? I drove away thinking it was not required to keep the tires on the same side, or, not required for the tire to spend it's life turning in one direction. Am I correct in what that means?

These tires are directional, so they must stay on the same side.

YK520'S NON-DIRECTIONAL

Postby krenshaw » Wed Apr 28, 2010 10:26 pm

Hate to sound like a rock, but does that mean I don't have to worry about keeping them on one side right?
