ABS sensor light is on...need help and advice

Postby kenny6683 » Sat Mar 27, 2010 1:44 pm

I had my struts and springs installed today and somewhere along the way..the guy must have pulled on the sensor or something and now one of them is no good. I have the ABS light on cluster. how do i find out which one is bad? and is this hard to fix ? could it be that its really not defective and i just need to reset battery or ecu to make this go away?

any info on this would be appreciated

Thanks

they might have pulled the wire that goes to the breaks & broke it, take it back and have them replace it or them, there short wires & can be damaged very easy............... :drinking:

yeah i think this is what happened but i checked all of them and they all seem intact. is there any way of figuring out which one is bad? are all sensors the same? can i buy one and just try it on rear...if light does not go off then just try on other side?

im no expert on this, maybe somone who knows more will chime in, i do know there easy to damage, & if they let the swing arm hang from them it will mess them up, the wire is delicate.............. :drinking:

As Jetbtkng has stated that the ABS sensors are very fragile in the above posts, he is right about the wires being damaged in the rear when the struts we're unbolted. The front sensors normally do not have the same problem as the rear.

I don't think an OBDII Scanner will help you because it is seperate from the other lights on the cluster. You could always bring it to the dealershp and have them check it out for you but I don't know if they'll charge you a diagnostic fee.,,,maybe AutoZone can run it perhaps?

I have a set of rear ABS Sensors out of a 99 Camry that might still be good if interested and needed. I'm also local and install isn't hard at all as I've done it on both of my Solara's.
