Postby mers714 » Wed Mar 17, 2010 10:16 pm

Your problem is one of two things. Either your wheels need to be balanced or you need a front end alignment.

i had my wheels rotated yesterday so it must be the alignment. Can it be the tie rods or ball joints or a bad shock? thanks

I'm guessing wheel bearing after alignment.

I worked at a tire shop for 3 years and an alignment never caused a vibration. Either get the wheels balanced (might have thrown a weight) and check for a bent wheel. Did you feel a slight vibration in the seat or the body of the car before you got them rotated?

since you got your wheels rotated ysterday, it looks like the guy didnt do his job properly.

I would go back there and let them re-bolt the tires properly. They have to be bolted cross way. Some mechs just do a rotation which causes the wheel to be slightly tilted and that causes vibration and eventually over use the tires. Dont drive on the freeway untill you get that fixed or you will scrap your tire

my steering wheel has shaked/vibrated between 55-70mph for the last ~6 years. I have still yet to find the problem. I have had the stock wheels balanced several times and my rims balanced several times and it shakes either way. I havent had an alignment for like 5 years so thats what Im gonna do when I shake off this laziness!

Should I take it to a shop to see what's wrong? Or go back to america tires to get the wheels balanced?

Somehow I missed this post. Get all 4 wheels balanced, if it hasn't been done. Make sure nothing is loose up front, and check the bearings.

Hey dude, i can shed some light on this for you.. I had the exact same problem. My front caliper was gone... it wouldnt release properly, stuck on the brake disc... Just jack your car up and see how easily your wheel spins.. if it doesnt spin well, you might have that same problem..

I know some people may say that wouldnt cause wheel vibration, but it certianly did on mine. No more vibration once i got a new caliper...

I don't know if you have aftermarket wheels or factory.
But if they are aftermarket, you'll have centric rings.
If they are worn or damaged, you'll have a vibration.
Trust me, I'm a technician.
