Time for some new suspension... KYB vs Tokico

So reading around here the consensus seems to be both are stiffer than stock (which is what I want) but KYB GR-2 seem to be a little softer than the Tokico HP Blues. On other forums (toyotanation) seem to say the reverse. Anyone have a definitive answer on this? More than likely going with Eibach Springs. Anyone used both?

I have KYB GR-2's with the Eibach's and they're slightly stiffer than stock. The general consensus is that the Tokico's are considerably stiffer than the GR-2's. Personally, I'm looking to get Tokico's as replacements once my GR-2's are done. That's only if I don't get coilovers.

if yr going for a stiffer spring, go with tokicos- it'll compliment a lowering spring very well. The GR2's are excellent matches for the softer springs like teins. But they do get sloppy when you push hard.

I prefer just a metal rod, no springs or struts. Cheaper, and decent cornering.

Lol but seriously I have Tokico, they're pretty firm over stock to, but I've never had anything else so I can't compare them, sorry.

^x2 I got the same setup as well and he's right they're stiffer than stock but I believe the Tokicos are stiffer than KYBs. KYBs are just a tad stiffer than oem.

I have Tokico and they're KICK ASS. Honestly I don't even mind their stiffness. They're not as bad as you think, in fact they're not bad at all. They're noticeable over stock but not uncomfortable.

If the KYB brand is softer than Tokico then personally I don't think it's worth it to go that route, might as well stay stock.

Though when it comes to ride comfort it's really is subjective.

I also had Tokicos HP on my totaled solara , i loved them, there definitely wasn't a big noticeable difference in the stiffness

I personally prefer that stiff ride. Ya when i drive the Yukon it feels nice to feel like im floating down the freeway, but i definately prefer feeling every little bump in the Solara :) (ive got the sport suspension)

That's what she said

I also have tokico/eibach combo. Love it.

Had gr-2's on my eclipse. Slightly stiffer than stock but not by much.

What about new strut mounts? KYB or Tokico (or something else)?

I had both sets of struts, and feel that the Tokicos are the better choice if you're lowering the car. Also, I'm running Tein S-Tech front springs & Eibach Pro-Kit rears (yes, I'm a freak), and the HPs do their job well mated to these springs.
