Anybody dynoed ebay headers?

Postby EricSol » Sat Feb 20, 2010 1:47 pm

I know how much we sell our exhaust's for......$1399 PERIOD. Of coarse nobody races there car in NASCAR, the point being the thermal use of ceramic over stainless and how top race teams see a benefit from it and how race technology trickles down to the street. I'm at 296whp with a as you call it "restrictive high flow cat". I would be curious to see what you dyno at with the cat ($) welded in? I never said OBX's where made in China just the muffler was Chinese. And just in case you missed it.......the exhaust sells $1399. The $2300 for the headers y/pipe is WRONG....$1399 is for the whole exhaust!.

You get what you pay for or don't pay for. I didn't pay for a o2 sim or pay for somebody to weld in my stock cat. You didn't pay for ceramic coating, a Magnaflow muffler or a high flow cat. I get that you feel these things are not necessary/important but are having a hard time figuring out why they might be important to someone else (ie:my speaker analogy). You got exactly what you payed for. But in a fair comparison with these differences factored in the prices become very similar.

i got those prices off there website, so they havet updated there website, all im saying is for the best bang for the buck, obx is the way to go, theres no sense spending that kinda money, as for a cat, my 02 solara has a high flow cat on it, & im getting 291hp with an auto at 8psi, although i have ported & polished heads & intake, but also i lowered the compression to 9.5 to 1, and still got a cel for the cat, and i use the stock cat only for smoging the car, & works like a charm, this is there website,
SPECIAL - 1997-2001 Toyota Camry V6 Headers/Y-Pipe & 3-inch Cat Back Exhaust
$1999
Details
im only stating what there website says, as for the r&d, i think they made there money back at those prices, im not attacking eric, its just i cant see paying that much for there product when theres somthing out there of equal quality and a much lower price................ :drinking:

^No doubt, Not picking sides here, just stating facts. The OBX cloning caught us all by surprise late '08, since it just showed up out of nowhere. Luckily for us, they picked the right product to copy. It's a shame on JP's part, since they take a hit, but for the consumer, it's a complete gain.

in my opinion, since they were the only game in town they kinda raped the camry-solara comunty, it doesnt take that much r&d to design a set of headers & exhaust, as headers have been around for a long time, and them lowering the price by a $1000 just proves it.............. :drinking:

It's what happens when you get a "bang for the buck" personality type looking at a "no compromise" product. It offends them so deeply that they will go so far as to accuse a company "raping the community". They will never see the value in such a product, just the cost.

I think JPP certainly deserves respect for manufacturing the first aftermarket exhaust for the Camry/Solara. The fact that OBX does it for cheaper is simply the reality of capitalism. No point in getting offended really.

Edit: And everyone who participated in this discussion including EricSol and jetbtkng should be thanked for providing the pros and cons of the JPP and OBX systems.

hey look, if you want to defend it thats fine, im just stating the obvious, it has nothing to do with eric, its a company thats in it to make a profit, and did one helll of a job of doing it, but to say they didnt over charge, $2300 for an exhaust, i think was over priced, as for bang for the buck mentallity, not everyone can pay prices like that of jp, its about getting what you pay for, and obx you get what you pay for, a great product, i dont even know how anyone can defend a $2300 exhaust, now lowered a $1000 in price, comon..................... :drinking:

these are gibson ceramic coated headers, this is just a comparison, headers shouldnt cost what jp sold theres for, gibson is top of the line headers, and alot cheaper than $1599, now lowered $700 in price, to $899, you can buy a complete obx exhaust for the price of jp's headers at the new low price, im not ragging there product, im ragging on there insane pricing, its a corporation that has no conscience, imo....... :drinking:

ya bmw, one of the most exspensive cars to mod and maintain, were talking about toyota's, not rolls royce, not even a fair comparision, unlees your jp, and trying to justify price gouging, and thats exactly what jp is doing, i compared a toyota with a toyota, not a ford escort vs a bugatti, lol....................... :drinking:

You compared shortys, no crossover/y-pipe, no flex pipe and no cali cat...

These might be a closer compare, not stainless and no cat though...

THIS has gone beyond helping people on this forum make an informed decision. There have already been enough facts stated for someone reading this to make up there own mind. I personally dont have much money and will get whatever is cheaper as long as its stainless and fits well, I wonder if my stock muffler will bolt up to the OBX system, i dont want it to be loud, if i have to ill have two stock mufflers mounted up (or something else quiet)

and jp's were $1600 until just the other day, basically you just proved my point, jp gouged everyone who bought there exhaust for how many years now, and just lowered the price to try & compete with obx, and still can buy the complete obx exhaust for about $100 less than the jp's headers, cat & y pipe, then you have to spend another $700 to complete the exhaust, not including shipping.................. :drinking:
