I was browsing around some MR2 forums when I saw some ferrari-style gated shifters that absolutely blew my mind...

has anyone ever had this idea for a solara?...

Hmm it looks ok, but it doesnt go with the overall look of the solara, or the mr2 in those pics imo...

Aside from that adjustable throw, I don't see much need for this type of mod. I think I'm going to stick with my planned fog light bayonet.

I've been wanting to make something like this for a while now. I'm thinking of using either CF or brushed Aluminum.

I think gated shifters are Badness. But that one looks like it was dropped on the console and no attempt was made to make it fit in. if you integrate it into the console instead of a drop on cover, that would be sweet. It just has to be the correct shape and size and not look like an add-on.
Trust me, I'm a technician.

If I were to make it, I would have it so it sits underneath the plastic center console trim.

Would anyone seriously be interested in these?

Also, Cartang, I could do it in Carbon fiber - no problem.

That's the way I would do it James. I'd like to see you make one. I can't use it though, I'm auto. :(

that's pretty cool...but people who do it better make sure that they have SS or brass shifter bushings installed, otherwise that would wreck havoc on their shifting
