I just saw this while browsing online forums. But essentially we could retrofit a flange adapter for round/cone intake filters using something like this:

Attach a filter to it and end up with something like this:

that will probably do just as much as using the K&N air filters you pick up at advanced auto parts

It;s a better design then the drop in filter as there is a lot more surface area to take in air.

BTW, here is my setup. I also have a tube running up from the bumper to force a little more cooler air into the airbox.

That isn't really a CAI, in effect... it is just the stock intake with a cone filter inside of it. I have seen people in cali do this do avoid being hassled about emissions.

looks like it would act more as a heat shield rather than CAI.
