Brakes Squealing

Brakes Squealing

Postby JamesT » Mon Dec 14, 2009 8:28 pm

So lately, when I brake I get an awful squealing sound. It usually won't happen until after the pads and rotors have warmed up (i.e. after driving for a little while).

They did this last year as well. Since then, I have changed my pads, rotors, calipers, brake lines.

I also made sure I broke the pads and rotors in correctly.

Any ideas? I know this sounds like a stupid problem but it's really getting aggravating...

brake pads may have wear indicators that are supposed to squeal to let you know the pads are getting worn. if thats not the case then i would say you probably didn't put grease on the back of the pads did you? you get the grease from any auto parts store, put it on the BACK of your brake pads = no squeal. it cancels out the small vibrations that make the squeal sound. just make sure you put the stuff on the back of the pads, not the side that contacts the rotor. i use this stuff every time i change pads so i never get squealing sounds.
