I was picking my roommate up from her class tonight, it was raining. On the way home, although i have an automatic, it was so slippery that i decided to put the car in "2", but shifted the wrong way and put the car in PARK. I heard a slight grinding sound and i shifted it back, i was going like 10 mph.

I'm going to try and park it on a hill and see if its alright, but i'm pretty nervous.

Am i f@*$ed? or can our cars take it?

i can just hear the insults now.........

My ex did that to her Geo Tracker... AFTER she got halfway out of it not realizing she had left it in reverse. So it started to roll back off of my somewhat steep drive way, she panics and crams it into park. It made the same sound before coming to a stop.

I did something similar a few months ago, i was driving in a parking lot, going around a corner, and i was thinking that i had the car in manual (which i usually do) but didnt, and went to shift up... and shifted into reverse at about 35 mph or so... the car just shut off, i sat there for like 5 minutes contemplating whether or not i even wanted to start it and find out it was f*cked up... but it drives fine!!

gen1 has a shifter button on the side - as long as you're holding that in, you can shift into park, whether or not your foot is on the brake.

i think the foot on the brake thing is only for getting OUT of park, so i bet you could put your gen2 into park without braking as well. obviously wouldn't recommend it, but i bet it's possible.
