Jet Performance Throttle Body Spacer for Camry/Solara

Postby trd4life » Mon Nov 30, 2009 5:42 pm

My airflow readings on my SAFC2 went up by a peak of 10-15% after i installed the airaid spacer, that was running a 2.2" s/c pulley at the time. If the airflow % readings on the SAFC2 went up , is that evidence of a HP increase? I honestly don't know .

That was me. I don't have any dyno runs to my name with this car, but perhaps Midias and a few others here on SG can attest to the claims made about the TB.

That's what I thought...... As far as access to meth....can't you tap into the intake pipe before the TB?

Everyone does bring up good points. As far as it not working on a Hummer, that is one motor out of millions. Just because it didn't make a difference on that particular motor doesn't mean it wouldn't on another. You also have to factor in did that person install a cold air intake, did they change to a K&N, was there a aftermarket exhaust installed, was the dyno calibrated? Too many variables to nail it down.

What it boils down to is that for each specific application, it needs to be tested on a dyno with every mod listed so that can be factored in as well. Never claimed that adding the throttle body added power. I simply said I wanted a blue one and that is what I got.

Now I will say that because it is blue, I think I picked up around 100hp at the tires. No, i didn't test it on a dyno but I have driven up and down my street a lot and I know the asphalt very well. I checked the groove patterns left in the asphalt, did some calculations, and voila, 100hp gain!

02slera, I am shocked and offended. A claim of 101hp is just preposterous! A gain of 100hp from a throttle body spacer is acceptable, but 101??? You have gone too far and I will not stand for it.

Thats just what i heard, 100hp sounds more realistic to me too.

I figured we could come to an agreement on all of this. Kinda makes you want to see how much horsepower the red throttle body spacer adds doesn't it?

Red one can't be as good. Its simple physics. There is no way air flows through a red tube as fast as a blue tube. This equation explains why...
(ô4*7╦Ñ2Ä╖3±ƒ-Ä7É/6r+æ6ô-Ç)+2= blue is better

All I can say is damn my friend. It's tough to argue with that equation. It's offical, blue is the best.

One of these days I really would like to see some dyno results from a bored throttle body and a throttle body spacer. Probably be best to do it with a manual trans also. Hmmm, doesn't Midias have a 5 speed manual, bored out throttle body, AND a throttle body spacer?

I just had a great idea... ill be the one to dyno test the bored throttle body, throttle body spacer combo.... ill just have to raise the money to install these parts on my car and get the dyno test done... so who want to donate to the throttle body spacer dyno test charity?? it could lead to info that could benefit us all.

I like how you think! We can use my Camry as the test mule for what the parts do with a supercharger. Let's raise some money so I can get some dyno time as well, lol.
