Engine Overhaul

Engine Overhaul

Postby wooshkie90 » Thu Nov 19, 2009 7:24 pm

Hey my car has 170000 miles on it. I was just thinking, would it be smart to overhaul the engine, rather then trading it in?? other than suspension problems, the car is in good condition.

Is there any reason to do so, other than the mileage? If there isn't, don't bother.

An engine haul can cost you thousands, don't do it unless you have no option.

You won't get a good deal on trading it to the dealers either, they will probably give you $0 for it with that kind of milage.

If the engine is in good condition why would you feel the need to overhaul it?

By the time the car needs an engine overhaul, it will also be the time to get a new car so why bother with it?

my black lara has 160,000 miles on it, and im getting it painted rite now, and when the engine goes it will be rebuilt, i luv the disposable attitude people have nowadays, its like oh >>I'm a douche<< its got 5 miles on it time to get a new one, i dont sell my cars or bikes, thats why i have 4 cars, 2 pick ups, 2 harley's and 1 1976 vouge motorhome, and they all run, except for my 94 softail, but im hotrodding that one now...................... :drinking:

I plan on keeping my Solara for a long time too but I don't think it will ever need an overhaul with proper maintenance.

If the engine goes due to age, then I will probably do a motor swap.

My ex-neighbor had an early 90s Accord (correct me if wrong, CB7) that had 300K miles before selling it to his wife's mom, he never mentioned of ever overhauling the engine.

i helped my friend and his dad tear down his old 350 chevy motor that had 250k on it. He took very good care of it and you could even see some original honing marks on the cylinder!
