So the NST 1MZ Crank Pulleys are finally in stock and on sale!

Many of you here joined our GB and should have your pulleys in hand within the next few days.

The purpose of this thread is for you to list your feedback regarding your NST Crank Pulleys installed on your cars. In addition, we will use this pulley to answer questions, share feedback, thoughts, and comments.

Those of you who own these pulleys, please share your reviews regarding performance. Before and after thoughts and comments will be valuable for all involved. I'm sure your fellow board members will appreciate your feedback.

NST00115 Underdrive Crank Pulley for naturally aspirated or turbocharged models. Requires the use of two new belts, belt numbers listed on our website. This pulley is roughly 60% lighter than your OEM pulley and underdrives your accessories by a modest percentage to provide you with better throttle response, hp, & tq numbers.

NST00199 CR-Lite Crank Pulley is designed for supercharged applications. This pulley does not slow any of the accessories and is compatible with the OEM belt. This pulley is roughly 60% lighter than your OEM pulley and will provide better throttle response.

NST00115 Underdrive Crank Pulley:

I've had no problems with this pulley. I like it a lot!

Even though it's an underdrive pulley, I've noticed very little change in my voltage on my SAFC II.

has anyone gone through a dyno to prove that the NST pulley actually freed up horsepower?

I know driving feel is important but so are the numbers as the NST lite-crank pulley is on my future mod list.

its not going to give that much hp gain, but lets the engine rev faster, to better use the existing hp

Good question. We have not done any specific testing with the 1MZ, but we have dyno charts and testing for many other applications.

Weight reduction in the rotating assembly always leads to better throttle response, quicker acceleration, better hp & tq delivery, and even better fuel economy when driving habits are kept the same.


Our latest dyno testing was with the NST CR-Lite (OEM SIZED) Crank Pulley for the BMW 335i. No, it is not a Solara, it is not a Camry. But the principles of weight reduction apply similarly, and the gains are noticeable...






We also tested the NST Pulley Kit on the Nissan 350Z HR engine earlier this year. The results were similar and positive...

We have the ability to build custom pulleys of any type, and do so quite often.

I tried putting out a feeler for SC pulleys a couple months ago... very few people seemed interested in such a product. Unfortunately we can not mass produce a pulley if only two or three people are looking to buy it.

Thanks for the dyno charts, I am gonna get lite crank pulley from NST definitely. I always go back and fourth deciding between an underdrive or a lite crank pulley, but the latter seems better right now as my belt looks perfectly usuable.

I got a question about the install of the crank pulley: are impact wrenches absolutely necessary in removing the crank pulley bolt? Would a torque wrench suffice?

I would say torque wrench should be perfectly good to remove it.

^x2 there's alot of torque on those bolts that even a standard impact wrench cant take off

As others have said... the bolt holding the crank pulley is VERY tight, especially after having been on the pulley for several years, in most cases.

A very strong impact would be the best way to remove the bolt. You will need a torque wrench to install this bolt onto the new NST pulley after you have it installed.
