So, changed the oil, and checked the air filter, then had to remove battery, then reconnected it again... about 5 miles later, CEL comes on... P1130.

Anyone?

i believe that is o2 sensor 1/1 failure
thats the o2 sensor right near the oil filter. check for any damage to it

i'm thinking it may be the same sort of code, except you may have a cali-spec solara (uses A/F sensors instead of oxygen sensors)

you can confirm if you have a fed-spec or a cali-spec car by checking the ID sticker under the hood (you know, the sticker that also shows the serpentine belt diagram)

or you can take a picture of your manifolds and post them up, and someone around here should be able to confirm whether or not you're fed- or cali-spec.

and if i'm not mistaken, bank1 is the rear bank (side that cylinder 1 is on), and the sensor is gonna be between the engine and the firewall.

replacing it is the only solution i know of.

Carfax said that the first three owners of my Solara were in Cali... I think it might be safe to say that it's Cali-spec.

Can anyone quote me an estimate of how much it is going to cost to take care of this A/F sensor?

anywhere from a couple to a few hundred bucks (those specialty cali sensors were much more expensive than the fed-spec $60 denso O2 sensors...i wanna say the a/f sensor is like $240)

check autozone, make sure you look for A/F sensor and NOT oxygen sensor.

yeah, the more expensive one is the one you're looking for.

as far as labor costs, it shouldn't take a shop more than an hour to do (it's possible to do yourself, you'll need to get an offset oxygen sensor wrench-socket, which is also carried at autozone, and i think there's a DIY writeup in the tutorial section).

Are you sure that I can't just replace it with the O2 sensor? I heard that it's the same thing...

... and autozone only has O2 sensors not A/F sensors.

if you're cali spec you HAVE to use the A/F sensor
if you're fed spec you would use the oxygen sensor

What does that mean?

maybe the a/f sensor just needs to be cleaned, or maybe the wires where the plug is are coming loose?
