2000 Solara SLE - Thoughts!?

Postby tommybluez » Thu Oct 08, 2009 11:12 am

Hi Guys! New guy here - From lovely cold Buffalo NY :)

Looking @ buying a Solara to replace my clunker.

Found a 2000 SLE, Loaded (opt. trac & sunroof), 1-owner, pearl white, lady owned, dealer serviced - traded in on a Lexus. She's offering it to me for $8500 with my trade (a frame damaged 03' protege w/ high miles) -- I'm trying to get her to take $8. What's a fair price? It is immaculute.

Any problem areas/things i should watch out for before buying?

Thanks

$8,500 isn't a bad price for that mileage. You could probably get her down just a bit, though.

honestly, i paid $10k for mine with 89k miles on it.
99 sle, fully loaded

this was in jan 06

a bit on the pricey side (i had to scramble to find a car in a short amount of time), but i still feel like it was a good deal for the quality of the car.

three and a half years later (i'm at 136k miles) and she's still going strong

oh yeah, except my tranny went at about 116k, but knowing how i drive, that was probably my fault and not toyota's.

i paid $8600 for my 02 sle, 72,000 miles, super clean, if your paying cash flop down $7500, if your financing, kinda hard to get a lower price, but haggle with them, you never know............................ :drinking:

That's too much, It's almost a 10 year old car.

I have the same exact Solara (2000 SLE). I bought it when it had about 69,000, 4 years ago....it cost me $10, 300 at the time.

Do a Blue Book search on the car with the info you have, you'll see, its less.

dang, while oldscouts is a SE instead of SLE, it's still a v6, and has low miles for a 1999 (73k miles).

and he's asking .... what? $5500 now?

AND it's a 5spd, which no factory SLE ever had, and which are harder to find these days.

paid $6,800 for mine 2000 SLE with 63k miles, one owner, in Feb 09, the owner didn't have much maintenance and sum scratches and scuffs here and there. i would try to get it down to 8k, even 8k is still high.

Hey everyone - thanks for the replies. I got it for $7k. I'm happy. Other Solara's in my area were the same price and higher mileage and in much rougher shape. This is like brand new. I've had it a week now - love it! So glad I got it =)

Next is a remote starter! I imss that already with the lovely Buffalo Winters on their way.
