Ow, thats rough! :-( Glad you weren't in the car. Wow. My question is, what on earth was that lady doing and/or smoking that she didn't see your car AND move over for you??? There is little that is scarier than a woman driving an SUV. I hope things work out for you! Good luck!

I was thinking the samething.

Can you imagine, although you prolly wouldnt want to, if a larger vehicle hit your Lara. An SUV of any sort woulda wiped out the entire rear end. The backseat woulda been sitin in the front seat. Im surprised the RAV4 did that much damage.

Your a very lucky girl.

I don't mean to scare you all but emergency lane accidents occur alot more than you hear about......ALOT more. In Ohio we lose about one road construction worker a month from people who for whatever reason ride the berm/emergency lane or median.

That reminds me! As a public service announcement to all: if you have to pull over on the freeway for ANY reason try your damnedest to NOT park median-side and head towards the berm. And if you make it to the berm, park on the grass past the berm. And if you can't park on the grass because of a ditch or guardrail, keep at least one eye on oncoming traffic. But no matter what you do, there is one thing you SHOULD NOT do after pulling over is stay in your car--get out (GET OUT!!!) and stay clear of it. And if you use the excuse that you have to stay inside the car because the weather is too rough outside then be forewarned: if the weather is bad, the chances of your stopped car getting hit went up exponentially. To put it bluntly: Never, assume the other driver has common sense.
