You're also gonna need a bypass module for the transponder in the key. preferably the newer XK-05 module, or if you can still dig up a 555X module...
both are made by Directed Electronics (DEI)

Take a picture of your key. You still might have it. The other "transponder" you're seeing is an aftermarket piece that should be removed and thrown out.

The 791XV is a good system, and I've installed many of them in all types of cars. I hope your car is auto though, because it does not support 5-spd vehicles.

The transponder bypass you'll need (if you have transponder keys) is made by a few different companies. I prefer the "I-datalink, or Fortin modules. They are self-learning, so you dont have to leave a spare key inside the car hidden under the dash. Let me know if you have any further questions.

PS: NO MORE CAPS.

miistahsaan that key does not look chipped to me. too thin. just my 2 cents...

hey nick. would that bypass work for my car??? I have a manual ecu that my original chipped key cannot start because of the imobilizer. Can I use one of these bypass things to get passed it and start the car and keep it running?

TxBmbleBee, You are right.....that key is NOT chipped. Just take out that aftermarket transponder crap that you have in the car right now, and you'll be good to go!

And to answer your question TxBmbleBee, If you have a manual tranny ECU that was taken from another car, you could use that same module to permanently bypass the transponder system. BUT....you'd have to know how to wire it up to activate everytime you turn the "wrong" key.

You'd also have to program the bypass with the matching key from the Manual ECU. Failing that, you could take the entire car to the dealer, and have them program your existing key to the manual ECU.

The bypass module won't work on that system you have. It's meant to interface with factory transponder systems. Since the system that you currently have in there is aftermarket, the module you just ordered is useless to you.

Just go to the Thick wires at the ignition key. I'm sure somewhere along those wires there is a cut in it, and a relay interfaced in between. Cut all the wires that arent factory, and re-join the stock ones together. It sounds confusing here, but it's not that hard. If you really don't understand anything I just told you, then I suggest you take the car to a car audio/security place and have the work done for you.
