Yeah and hope that the mofo that can't drive is going to do that when they come to the stop sign at the intersection you are crossing, or some >>I'm a douche<< like that. Just because you plan your stopping distance to be longer doesn't mean other people do. If you have to get on the brakes suddenly in the snow and ice you had better have ABS. There is no way to predict what another car on the road might do. Just sayin'.

life is unpredictable for everything else theirs abs.. it shortens your stopping distance as well which means better breaking in all conditions, even people who race in the circuits need abs, nobody is a fool. (my point of view)

TadS wrote:Eh. ABS is junk. Hate it. No ABS on anything I own. Couldn't get the truck without it, so I had to bypass it. Talk about a pain in the neck. I don't understand why it's being forced down our throats. It's like the vehicle companies are assuming that everyone is a poor driver.

I watched a top gear a long time ago where they compared panic stopping distance, and a skilled driver was able to brake better without ABS, whilst an average driver did better with ABS turned on. Based on this I think ABS is just another anti-darwinistic invention.

Quantity of dumb drivers on road >>> good drivers and driver quality.

That is the reason for such systems. Still, I don't complain...saved my butt a few times.

anyone who says theyre better off without ABS is just trying to be a hardas.s IMO. Look, if you drive a stripped out, dedicated track car, I can see the appeal of having no abs, no power anything. But for a solara driving around on the street, you need it.

And if you still think you don't, I'll be the first to laugh when you total your car.
Try emergency stopping going freeway speeds when an 18 wheeler jack knifes and tips in front of you and you got 2 car lengths to stop. ABS will be your best friend then.

Kudos to original poster for trying to put safety above anything else. Im sure youll find the part you need soon.

Think of your average dumb driver.

Now realize the fact that half the people on the road are dumber than that person.
