I just rear-ended a dude going 30 mph. my solara is smashed. his Ford pickup doesn't even have a dent on it. Both lights are out, hood folded, bumper torn, directionals knocked out, grille destroyed.

But it runs.

sigh.

yeah thanks guys, luckily no one was hurt at all, i wasn't even shaken up, just upset. I used to text and mess with the iPod a lot, but i have learned a valuble lesson from this. one text can cost you 2 grand.

back in high school i was futzing with my portable CD player in my old 88 camry. missed a slight curve in the road and before i could react, i'd hit a light pole. did you know it costs $3500 to replace an aluminum light pole? i did about 3500 of damage to my camry too. it ran, but couldn't move, as the RF wheel was only attached by the upper strut mount and the tie rod. it'd ripped apart the control arm and pulled the CV axle out of the transmission. not to mention smashing lights and pushing the fender over the RF door so you couldn't open the door more than a few inches... i went from 40 to 0 in one car length without touching the brakes.

that's why i'm putting so much work into making my carputer as simple to use as possible. simple enough to operate BLIND, so i don't have to take my eyes off the road.

Sorry to hear man, but glad you're ok.
I feel your pain as well. I had an accident last year with my maxima, and though it wasn't my fault....it was still seen that way since the dude that screwed me over was ultimately rear-ended by my car.
