HELP HID PRBLEM

Postby SolaraMan7890 » Mon Oct 05, 2009 2:25 pm

Hey guys, so this is my problem with my HID lights... they work fine, but one of them is clearly a different color. These lights are both 1 year old. They flicker when turned on but once they "warm up" there are no problems. Recently, the right one (the one that looks like its dying) hasn't been turning on along with the other one; it requires me to flash the high beam a few times to re-direct the current.

My ballast for it is screwed on to my windshield wiper fluid tank, and shouldn't have had any damage to it. do you guys think i just need to order new bulbs? this is one of those HVVT (or whatever the company is) kits from ebay...

You can try switching the bulbs to see if the problem stays the same. If it does, then your ballast prob went bad. If not, then just buy new bulbs.

It's just screwed into the same place that the washer fluid tank is screwed into. it shouldn't have gotten wet (or not nearly enough to screw it up).

If it got wet, wouldn't it stop working all together?

wouldnt necessarily go bad period some things get wet and slowly go bad.. but i think the ballast is your problem.

well to me this sounds like the ballast...because the bulb still actually works...its just not receiving enough power. one of my ballast is located behind my bumper where it definately gets wet with rain and its perfectly fine until now 2 years later..so doubt water has anything to do with this. i'm located in NY and theres a store around my way that sells them for only $50.00 (set)...not sure if they ship them out though

did you try reversing the ballast...use driver side on passenger? thats best thing to try...if it happens to the other bulb then you immediately know its the ballast

I would try reversing the ballasts, but my other ballast is under my battery, in a deep dark place (lol). so I think i'm going to try to just reverse the bulbs... a lot less work.
