Because it's anoying, and it makes my car rattle when I'm at stop lights with my A/C on. I have to throw the car into nuetral just to make it smooth itself out.

At 800 to 1000 RPM the engine would run at it's smoothes, that's where I want it to be. How do I make it go there?

When I did the throttle body cleaning at dealer, they told me the idle was too low and they adjusted it.

Can you get the dealer to adjust it? I dont know how they would go about doing it. Also would a throttle body spacer help with this problem?

What, exactly would the dealer do? Whatever that is, I want to do it myself so I don't have to pay some dealer huge amounts of money, for what could potentially be a small amount of work.

My local dealer want to charge $129.99 an hour for diag... Freaking Fremont Toyota...

Definitely not Freaking Fremont Toyota...but nothing new. I guess our best bet is to attack those rattles.

BTW, my 2005 SE has nearly 80k miles.

other dealerships will work on your car. I RARELY take my car to Toyota... I dont trust them at all, the GMC dealer does all the work on my Yukon and Solara's, Delorean, and CTS. My other cars havent had to visit the shop yet.

I hear ya man! Our 2000 convertible has about 90,000 miles and it does the exact same thing as yours and I agree it is very annoying! Our Solara has even stalled a few times at a light and so we do the same as you and put it in neutral. I have cleaned the intake/throttle body, new plugs, new filter and I've even run some STP injector cleaner through it a few times but it seems like nothing has changed at all. I had a '95 Camry with the same problem too so if there are any ideas out there please help.

Just thinking out of the blue...what if we performed the "grounding" mod on our cars. People who have performed that mod in this forum report better idling.

While its not a fix for the unknown cause of our low idling, it might make it less irritating.

Just wanted to share my thought.
