Alternator Grinding / Squeaking noise

99SLE 150K miles. I have a grinding and squeaking noise comming from my alternator area. I thought the squeak could just be the belt, but I put some dressing on it and it still squeaks. Any suggestions on where to start looking for the noise?

No more mystery. Alternator took a dump last night while driving down the road.. Car turned completly off and would not start again.
