Cruise control doesn't work

Cruise control doesn't work

Postby thatdamngoodcire777 » Wed Sep 16, 2009 12:24 pm

Heres another issue with my 00 solara. I got the ignition switch changed a while back and now my cruise control doesn't work. The cruise control light just keeps blinking and nothing happens. Anyone know how I could fix this myself? Maybe someone has a diagram or something on it? Thanks!

yuo can short a couple connectors in the diagnostics box to make it flash codes for you, so you can troubleshoot that way. you'd need a shop manual for that though - to know what pins to short and what the blink codes mean.

from what i learned while installing factory cruise in my car, the ignition switch should have no effect on the cruise control.

mine's blinking too, i just haven't checked any fuses or anything (i rarely use CC)

check the fuses behind the coin tray (look down and to the left from the steering wheel, yeah, behind that little tray)

...let us/me know if it's just a fuse or if it's something else. if it's not a fuse, then i'm in the same boat as you.

can't be a fuse. if the fuse was blown, the green cruise light on the dash wouldn't come on when you press the power button on the end of the little control stick.

check the cruise ecu itself (mounted to top of brake pedal bracket) or the cruise actuator next to the battery. unplug and re-plug both of these and see if it helps - sometimes this will clean some corrosion off the connections and make it work again. plus it doesn't cost anything. :)

I always like to pay nothing! I'll search for the cruise control setup and see if thats the problem. Maybe my mechanic did some shht he shouldn't have when I had the ignition fixed...
