Thank you for being a loyal Toyota customer and also thank you for the challenge you’ve presented to us. We haven’t run across this situation at our dealership before, however, we are all curious at this point, so Jeff Carlan, Service Manager has taken ownership of researching this question further. It may take us a day or so, but you will definitely be hearing from us soon. If I can be of further service please feel free to call me.

Oh that Jeff. I'm not to sure if he will be much help.

I just wanted to let you know that we are still looking into your question about your odometer. We have found out that some other cars also do this and we are trying to find out what the setting is for. It is probably a timer for one of the body circuits like the time the headlights or dome lights remain on. I will let you know as soon as we find out.

Thanks for your patience.

JEFF CARLAN

Fukuda probably has this one, but why don't any of the techs that are supposed to use this for diagnosis, have any idea what it is?
Trust me, I'm a technician.

I'm thinking it has to be a factory setting.

It is strange that I put it on 1 for a while and then pput it back to 6 and found I got better gas milag.

my norm in the city is like 18 if I'm not getting on it to much. Last fill up I got 21 and I've been trying to wear out the last 32nd of tread off my tires. strange.
