Take it out of that shop, if they have no idea it doesn't need to be there. It's gotta be something simple if you can bump start it but not crank start it. Don't pay incompetent people to do a job that they aren't qualified to do.

What the hell, I've never heard of a shop charging for a car just sitting in their shop...especially when they can't even fix it.

Does it give you any issues when it's running normally?

check your neutral safety switch- on a 5-speed, the starter won't turn without it being activated (by the clutch)

if the car has an alarm, this means the killswitch is active, and it didn't deactive when you disarmed the car, so what you can do is disconnect the alarm, get a good thick small cable, an where you see two thick red cables, where the alarm connects, you take the cable and make it direct, then you can start the car, because from what i hear is that your starter isn't recieveing a signal from the switch to the starter, this what the killswitch does, cancel's the signal.

STOP! Don't hit your starter with anything, it contains permanent magnet that can be broken if the starter experiences an impact. That method was only safe on the old starters with stator windings. Also if the starter isn't getting power, that wouldn't be the first problem. You have to figure out why the starter isn't getting power.

Try the ground wire on the battery. Even if it seems good, try a new one or an additional one. I had one that looked good with a multimeter, but it was not good enough to start the truck. So don't just look for continuity on the ground, really get a good connection.

This isn't rocket science. There are only three connections to the starter. Two of them are dead simple. They are: battery, ground and start signal. The power comes directly from the battery, the ground is through the chassis of the starter being bolted to the block, and the starter signal goes through the following path:

Battery>fusible link block>40A main fuse>starter relay>starter. The following components may effect those things:

Ignition switch, 5A starter fuse, clutch starter switch or neutral position switch, and a couple of junction connections (J7 and J26).

Good luck.
