Intake Swap From Avalon to Solara, Help Me

Postby 99BlackSandv6 » Wed Aug 26, 2009 12:17 pm

Hey Guys,

I just bought an upper intake manifold for a 1MZ off of a Lexus ES 300. I was going to paint it and clean it up then swap it with the one on my Solara. They are not exactly the same, the Lexus mani. has different vacuum line locations and some sort of VSV thing that mounts behind the TB. The main line missing is the big one that runs from the area under the engine cover to the top of the mani. behind the TB near the EGR valve. It's the only big line in that area if you don't know what I'm talking about. Also the Lexus mani. has two lines coming off of it with a port going into the TB. I think the main problem with swapping them is that the throttle body is not the same on the Lexus as it is on the Toyota. I just figured that since I am not doing anything with the throttle body I wouldn't have any issues. Has anyone done a swap like this, or do any of you have information that you think might help?

Please HELP

EDIT: the intake is from a 1997 Avalon, not an ES300 as I was originally informed. :(

Thanks,

Ben

My guess is that the Lexus manifold is from a model with the older EGR system.

Thanks for all the replies. I wasn't thinking about the intake being different from one year to the next. Maybe you're right James, the EGR could be different. I think I will contact Gabe. Also ASG14 I'm not sure what year the car was, I didn't see it on the car.

Thanks,

Ben
