Tired of throttle lag?

anyways, i read/tested that using the manual shifter to 5th gear at all times helps a bit. it feels like i'm sucking in more fuel but from a dead stop it feels a lot less laggy.

as in keeping it in 5 gear constantly? or do you mean just shifting through all the gears manually?

That's not what I call USING the manual. I meant using all
the gears from 1 - 5, shifting up and down as needed to both
accelerate and decelerate. If you know I how to use it well,
it works similar to a straight-shift and clutch pedal. Jimmm

I use the 'manual' when speeding off the line in a race with my friends. i'm just sayin in day to day driving, i read and tested that by keeping it on 5th it reduces a lot of the lag from the initial acceleration. i find that it keeps me from being too frustrated with this damn solara.

although u keep it in "5th" its actually not lol
but i think when u put it into the tiptronic mode it makes the transmission more "sportier"
at laest it does in the G
when i drop it into the tiptronic mode it goes to Ds and then when i shift it changed to whichever gear i changed it to

Tried the "keeping it in 5th" trick but haven't noticed any difference in jumping off the line. I also tried the "rerouting the filter hose" trick and didn't notice anything either. Being that I no longer mash it around town like Nick Bollea (look it up) I'm fine with my 'Lara.

Right now it's 91°F outside and pulling from a stoplight with the AC on feels like I'm driving an F-150 hauling a 44ft yacht from a boat ramp (think a punk kid on a Big Wheel launched faster than me off the line at lunch today). But like I said before, until I can afford a Lexus GS600h with the reclining rear-seat massager and beer cooler I'm happy with my particular Toyota vehicle.

same here... but it does make a difference to manually shift, but you lose fuel economy that way

I don't get it. My 2004 V6 SLE is so peppy and fast. I always leave 'em
sitting behind me at a green light. I bet the K&N Air Filter and the Lucas
Gas and Fuel Pump treatment helps a great deal. I use my AC all the time too,
and it causes NO ill effects. Jimmm
